The UNESCO World Heritage site of The Tower of London is a historic castle in central London. It was founded in the eleventh century as part of the Norman conquest of England. The tower of london is a complex of several buildings with defensive walls and a large moat.
Throughout Britain's turbulent history the Tower of London has been a fortress, a royal palace and an infamous prison.
Currently, it is a tourist attraction and is an obligatory part of a visit to the city. The Tower has also been home to the Crown Jewels since 1661. This spectacular collection is part of the Royal Collection and contains items still used in ceremonies today. Whilst at the Tower you will also meet its resident ravens, also known as the guardians of the Tower. Legend has it that the kingdom and the Tower of London will fall if the six ravens ever leave the fortress.
