Built in the early eighteenth century, Buckingham Palace was a small residence for the Duke of Buckingham and Normandy.
In 1762 it was acquired by King George III and converted into his public residence. With the arrival of Queen Victoria to the throne, Buckingham Palace became the official residence of the British monarchy and remains so to this days.

Today it is possible to visit Buckingham Palace and The Royal Mews (home to the historic royal carriages and one of the finest working stables in existence).
